Van-Zod - Krypton: Season Two

A distant descendent of The House of Zod, 1000 cycles before the rise of Dru Zod, Van-Zod was a Kryptonian scientist working towards ending the violent civil war - between Argo City and Kandor - that tore across his homeworld.

Forming a partnership with fellow biologist Wedna-El, he conducted numerous experiments on Dax-Baron, attempting to forcibly activate Baron's Vara Gene and turn the young Sagitari into an invulnerable "supersoldier."

Unlike El, he took no pleasure in their project, feeling increasingly guilty with each death and resurrection they forced Baron to endure. Finally calling out Wedna's callous and unfeeling attitude towards their victim, he argued that they should abort the undertaking. Nevertheless, this suggestion was met with derision and outrage from El, whose sentiment that the ends justify the means pushed them to continue till the bitter end.

Confronted by Dax's wife, Enaj, after the war, Van profusely apologised to the Sagitari for his part in the research, adding that both the Houses of Zod and El failed the Baron family, destroying their life and future happiness.

After the - now - heavily mutated and indomitable Baron broke free from his containment unit and began rampaging around the laboratory, slaying everyone in sight, he agreed to help El once more to contain the behemoth.

Wedna-El - Krypton: Season Two

A forebear of the House of El, Wedna-El was a preeminent biologist who wished to use science to end the Kandor-Argo City Civil War that threatened to destroy Krypton. To do this, she and fellow scientist  Van-Zod sought the creation of the perfect supersoldier, focusing their efforts on finding theVara Gene, a rare genetic marker capable of, with extreme pressure, allowing for the development of impressive abilities.

Screening hundreds of potential candidates, she eventually settled for Dax-Baron, a young Sagitari dedicated to their cause. Promising the freedom fighter that they could unlock his full potential and make him a hero for a safer Krypton - for his wife and daughter - they began their experiments.

Although she reassured Dax's wife, Enaj that her husband would be alright, Wedna subjected him to cruel and countless trials that saw him repeatedly die, be resurrected and die once again. Each time she would increase the severity to push him to his limits, and more often than not, past them.

Angered by Zod's reticence towards the experiment, she snapped at his protests, reminding him that their work was vital for winning the war since the Kandorians were slaughtering their forces in larger numbers than they could even quantify. Disregarding their principles, Wedna convinced the reluctant Van to see the project through to its inevitable conclusion, no matter the cost.

With the war won, Wedna and Van were confronted by Enaj, demanding that they return her husband to her. Unable to do so without causing emotional distress to both parties, she did her best to tell Enaj that Dax was no longer the man she had married. Furthermore, she refused to cooperate with the enraged Sagitari's demands, adding that Baron was the key to ending any war on Krypton, especially now that Krypton's peace was on a constant knife's edge.

Held at gunpoint and seeing no other choice, she reluctantly presented their work. Revolted by Wedna and Van's cruel and barbaric treatment of her husband, she could not believe what they had turned him into; a hulking, violent monstrosity with barely anything left of the man she once loved.

Forced to watch Baron lose his last semblance of compassion and self-control, going on a mass killing spree, she reluctantly captured and sealed Krypton's sentient Doomsday weapon away in a containment chamber hidden in the Outlands.

Enaj-Baron - Krypton: Season Two

An officer in the Sagitari alongside her husband, Dax, Enaj-Baron lived 1000 cycles ago, during the Kandor-Argo City civil war that had plunged Krpton to near decimation. She did her best to raise their daughter in a time of war and bloodshed, however, she was always fearful for her family's wellbeing.

When her husband was chosen to partake in a special project that was said to turn him into a super-soldier, Enaj had reservations about the safety of the experiment. Nevertheless, she stood by his decision, making him promise that he would come home to both her and their daughter when he had won the war and brought peace to Krypton.

Saying her final goodbye to Dax, she continued to do her bit for the war effort, unaware that Wedna-El and Van-Zod were destroying her husband one little piece at a time, till there was nothing left of him by the time of her return and the end of the war.

Telling the scientists the tidings of peace decreed by Jo-Mon, Enaj asked to see to husband so they could be reunited as a family once more. When Wedna refused her polite request turned into a demand, holding the two scientists at gunpoint and threatening to shoot them if they did not comply. Unmoved by El's attempts to placate her and the fact that he may be required to serve in future conflicts should this tentative peace fail to last, she went to his containment unit expecting to see her husband. However, she was terrified by Dax's heavily mutated and monstrous appearance.

Sickened by what the scientists had done to him, she fled the laboratory distraught, leaving Dax alone with his tormentors. This final rejection pushed him over the edge, leading to the behemoth breaking free from the unit and going on a rampage across Krypton; no longer Dax-Baron, only a sentient weapon of mass destruction dubbed Doomsday.

Dax-Baron - Krypton: Season Two

A Sagitari born on the planet Krypton 1000 cycles ago, Dax-Baron volunteered to participate in a scientific experiment that would turn him into the perfect super-soldier, hoping to help end the Kandor-Argo City civil war and make Krypton a safer place for his family to grow up in.

Testing positive for the irregular Vara Gene, scientists Wedna-El and Van-Zod thought they could exploit this mutation and make him invulnerable to lethal harm. To experiment with this hypothesis they continuously tortured Baron, killing him over and over and over again, each time resurrecting him to face more pain and death. After each death, whether from immolation or exposure to lethal pathogens, his body adapted, physically changing to survive the treatment, till at last, after four hundred and fifty-five attempts, he was unrecognisable as the man he once was.

With the war over, Enaj returned to the lab, demanding that she be allowed to see Baron. Ignoring their protests, she tried to make contact with her husband, only to be horrified at what El and Zod had done to him in the name of science and warfare. Trying to reach out to his wife and prove that he was still the man she knew and loved, Baron was heartbroken by her tearful rejection.

Turning on his captors, he broke free from his cell and went on a rampage, slaying all in his path.

Watching in shock and regret at the ruin they had caused and the lives they had destroyed, El and Zod agreed to take drastic action; since he was not seemingly incapable of dying thanks to the Vara Gene and his own mutation, they would have to capture and contain him somewhere that he could never get away from.

Eventually succeeding in this goal, he was stored deep below the surface of Krypton, in a facility that only an El and a Zod working together could access. Left alone for centuries, his name was lost to time, only being referenced in legend as Doomsday, the Beast of the Outlands.

Dax and Enaj's Daughter Krypton: Season Two

Raised on Krypton during the time of the great Kandor-Argo City civil war, the young daughter of Dax-Baron and his wife Enaj was a great source of pride for her father, leading to Dax volunteering to undergo scientific experiments to become a super-soldier hero and the protector of Argo City.

Growing up believing that her father was bravely fighting to help "build a better tomorrow" for Krypton and their people, she never saw him again, thanks to the horrific trials of Wedna-El and Van-Zod that resulted in Baron, mutating into a monstrous, bestial entity; the beast of the outlands who would go on to be anointed as Doomsday.

Anthony Romulus - The Batman Adventures

An Athlete and philanthropist, Anthony "Tony" Romulus's life was changed forever in his pursuit of fame and success. Wishing to make a name for himself, he agreed to be a guinea pig for Professor Milo, experimenting with unstable mutagenic compounds that would see him cursed as a werewolf, transforming into a monstrous creature during the full moon.

Desperately searching for a cure before the effects become permanent, no matter the cost, he sought out the finest minds in animal gene splicing. His hunt led him to the island of Doctor Emile Dorian, a brilliant biochemist who had a reputation for performing unethical experiments on humans.

Unable to find Dorian, he struck a bargain with one of Emile's creations, Tygrus. In return for finding Dorian, he would lead Tygrus to the home of Selina Kyle, whom the latter had fallen in love with during their first encounter.

However, before the deal could be fulfilled, he transformed into his werewolf form, going on a violent and destructive outburst that would see him seemingly meet his end in a lab accident, alongside Dorian, Tygrus and Man-Bat.

Man-Bat - The Batman Adventures

The alter-ego of Dr Kirk Langstrom, Man-Bat is a brilliant biochemist and former associate and partner of the infamous Dr Emile Dorian. When in this feral state, he is stripped of his intelligence, merely acting on primal rage, instinct and blood-lust.

Targeted by his ex-colleague, Kirk was forcibly injected with a heavily modified version of the Man-Bat formula, transforming him into the Man-Bat hybrid and removing his free will.

Now Dorian's puppet in his revenge scheme against Batman and Selina Kyle, he was sent to gather various mutagenic chemicals needed for Dorian's signature formula, T-99. Satisfied that everything was ready, the geneticist then ordered him to ambush both targets, bringing them to his laboratory in Downtown Gotham.

Unable to break free from Dorian's influence, he protected the doctor when he came under attack from The Werewolf, fighting off the enraged lycanthrope as the lab burned around them. While Man-Bat was believed to have died in the chaos, his body was never found.

Tygrus - The Batman Adventures

A man-made creation of Dr Emile Dorian, Tygrus chose to live an isolated existence on Dorian's abandoned island after the geneticist was arrested by Batman and incarcerated in Arkham Asylum. There he lived in relative peace. However, this was somewhat disturbed by G.C.P.D, forcing him to hide away out of sight.

Encountering the werewolf Anthony Romulus, he reluctantly agreed to track down Dorian, on the condition that the former athlete took him to see Selina Kyle, the woman he had loved and lost.

Witnessing Man-Bat abducting Kyle from her apartment, he gave chase, coming face-to-face with Dorian. Pleading his "father" to release Selina, he reluctantly agreed to transfer his consciousness into Batman's body, hoping that if he were human, Kyle would reciprocate his feelings.

Realising that what he was doing would only alienate any of her affection, and seeing Dorian attacked by the out-of-control Werewolf, Tygrus broke free from the machine and rushed to defend his family. However, the ensuing fight caused a fire that would burn through the entire lab, seemingly engulfing Man-Bat, Dorian, Romulus and Tygrus himself in the blaze.

Due to his genetically modified strength, stamina, and endurance, he might have survived the incident, since Batman was unable to find any of the four combatants' bodies.

Anthony Romulus - Batman: The Animated Series

A highly successful pentathlete and philanthropist, Anthony "Tony" Romulus found fame after winning the gold medal in the long jump, high jump, discuss, 100 and 300 meters sprint at the Autumn Games. However, he didn't accomplish this through hard work and dedication, but instead by using an experimental steroid created by Professor Achilles Milo. This untraceable stimulant, derived from timberwolf hormones, gave him immense strength, endurance, and fitness.

Earning status, wealth and power, Tony made a name for himself in Gotham's charitable and sporting circles. However, his newfound fortune went to his head, leading to a violent confrontation with Milo. Tony broke off their partnership and threw the scientist out of his mansion.

He soon came to regret the decision after the formula started reacting with his body during nights with a full moon, causing a partial lycanthropic transformation. Terrified and desperate for a cure, he begged Milo for help, only for the biochemist to list several conditions and assignments for him to complete - without question or failure - before he considered the request.

Now a mere pawn for Milo, Tony was forced to transform into "The Werewolf" and assassinate Milo's associates. During one of these missions, he encountered Batman, escaping the scene before his target, John Hamner, was dead. Angered by his incompetence, Milo charged Tony with killing Batman to exact revenge for his persistent interference.

Milo and Tony set a trap for Batman, capturing and subduing the vigilante when he arrives at the athlete's mansion. Tony transformed into the werewolf once more and attacked Milo, putting him in the hospital, before going after Batman in a fierce fight at the Gotham Colosseum.

Defeated, disgraced and terrified that he'd lost his only known chance for a cure, he left Gotham in search of a permanent solution to his condition that would not involve strings. His mansion and property were seized to pay back taxes and legal creditors, while rumours started to circulate about his sudden disappearance.

Professor Achilles Milo - Batman: The Animated Series

An unscrupulous scientist with a terrible reputation for unethical practices, Professor Achilles Milo's expertise was biology and genetics, tampering with the DNA of animals for highly illegal pursuits; from developing man-made rabies-like viruses to using hormones for experimental street drugs and steroids.

One of his ongoing projects involved testing a mutagenic performance-enhancing drug on the former Olympic athlete, Anthony Romulus. Originally hired by Anthony to find a way to increase his performance in the Autumn Games, the scientist took his revenge on the athlete after he tried to go back on their deal, eager to keep all the wealth he had amassed for himself.

After the steroids began displaying disastrous side effects, transforming Romulus into an uncontrollable werewolf creature, Milo promised to cure him of his lycanthropy, only if he agreed to work for him as his enforcer. Romulus begrudgingly conceded to this arrangement, becoming a mercenary whenever the professor needed someone to be eliminated.

Once more coming up in opposition against Batman, he ordered Romulus to kill the Dark Knight, successfully taking the vigilante prisoner. However, in his arrogance, he loses control of his enforcer, who viciously attacks him, before focusing on Batman.

Brought to the hospital with a police escort, he smugly told Commissioner Jim Gordon that despite finding him at the scene of the crime, the GCPD had no evidence to link him to the Romulus affair. However, Gordon rebutted that Milo shouldn't be so overconfident, since he was not as competent and discreet as he believed.

John Hamner - Batman: The Animated Series

A security guard employed at Gotham Zoo, John Hamner, was hired by an unknown party to help procure a pair of Alaskan Timber Wolves that were being housed at the zoo. Desperate to make a quick buck, he left the wolves' cage unlocked before he left, turning a blind eye to the theft and feigning ignorance the next day when the crime was discovered.

Paid handsomely for his trouble, he believed he got away high and dry, unaware that his employer, Dr Achilles Milo had other plans. Wishing to silence Hamner and reclaim the thousand-dollar bribe, the geneticist ordered "The Werewolf", aka Anthony Romulus to assassinate him.

Attacked while out walking his dog late one evening, he attempted to flee, only to be knocked unconscious by his assailant and thrown off the bridge into the pond. If not for the intervention of Batman, he would have drowned.

Returning to work a few days later, he was confronted by Detective Harvey Bullock who was investigating the theft of the wolves. With undeniable evidence against him, Hamner was arrested for dereliction of duty, bribery, and being an accomplice to the crime.

Titania's Train - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Consisting of those fairies and elves loyal to Queen Titania, the royal caravan travelled from Fairyland with their monarch to Athens to celebrate Theseus and Hippolyta's marriage.

Among their number was the young Indian Prince, Titania's ward and the subject of Oberon's jealousy. Alongside the boy, the train also contained Titania's most trusted attendants, Peaseblossom, Cobweb, Mustardseed and Moth.

Their revelries were interrupted by Oberon's magical antics, who used the influence of Love-in-Idleness to take custody of the child and add him to his cortege.

With Oberon and Titania making peace, the two warring monarchs dissolved their factions, uniting their subjects under one banner.

Oberon's Train - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Siding with King Oberon during his conflict with Queen Titania, this loyal procession of fairies, elves, and hobgoblins chaperoned their lord to Athens to help commemorate Theseus and Hippolyta's nuptial day.

Chief amongst their number was Robin Goodfellow, aka "sweet" Puck, Oberon's loyal attendee and jester.

With Oberon and Titania reunited as a couple on the eve of the duke's wedding, their quarrelling caravans folded back into one, serving under Fairyland's new and united rulership.

"Corin" - A Midsummer Night's Dream

The form taken by the fairy king, Oberon, during his numerous extra-marital dalliances, "Corin," was a young shepherd who seduced a local maiden, Phillida, with his musical and poetic talents on his corn flute.

Phillida - A Midsummer Night's Dream

A young mortal maiden, Phillida, fell in love with the mysterious young shepherd, "Corin", unaware of his true identity as the ruling monarch of Fairyland, Oberon, the husband of Queen Titania.

Fairy #1 - A Midsummer Night's Dream

A faithful servant of Queen Titania, they were sent on ahead from Fairyland to prepare the woods and meadows of Athens for their mistress's arrival, unaware that King Oberon and his supporters had similar ideas.

Meeting with Oberon's devoted loyalist "Puck" - Robin Goodfellow - while performing their duties, they initially dismissed him as a tiresome distraction. Yet, after recognising him for his reputation as a knavish trickster, the two began talking in earnest.

Reunited with Titania, they departed with the sovereign and her fairy train, leaving Oberon and his fairies to their plotting.
