Blaise - The Batman: Season Five

The alter-ego of esteemed nuclear physicist Dr Jane Blaisedale, Blaise was a criminal associate of Firefly, aka Garfield Lynns, starting a romantic relationship with the famed arsonist and corporate saboteur.

After her research project on boosting nuclear power at Gotham U was shut down over safety concerns, she turned to a life of crime, partnering with her boyfriend to help amass enough wealth to leave Gotham City behind forever.

Putting her knowledge to good use, Blaise designed several upgrades that would help enhance and improve his operations, dubbing the project, Firefly 2.0. Among the items they stole was a highly volatile experimental isotope she had been researching back at her old lab in Gotham U.

This isotope would spell disaster for the couple, destroying their safehouse and irradiating Lynns with so much nuclear radiation that it heavily mutated his body; transforming him into Phosphorus.

Watching his violent and extreme descent into madness, she became disillusioned by his lack of control and willingness to use his powers to inflict pain and suffering on others. She attempted to get Phosphorus help, but his abusive behaviour pushed her away.

Ultimately, Blaise turned against her lover, assisting Batman, Batgirl and Robin in his defeat and stopping Lynns from causing a catastrophic meltdown that would decimate Gotham.

Horrified by her experiences, she chose to end their relationship and cut all ties with him, letting him know that any spark they had once shared was thoroughly gone.

Dr. Jane Blaisedale - The Batman: Season Five

A brilliant nuclear physicist who used to operate at Gotham U., Dr Jane Blaisedale was employed to work on an advanced project designed to boost the output of nuclear energy sources. When the board deemed this assignment too risky to continue, she quit in protest, angered by the findings and believing that she was being professionally stifled.

Determined to continue her research by any means necessary,  Jane, now going by the name Blaise, teamed up with her boyfriend, Garfield Lynns, aka Firefly, to steal an experimental radioactive isotope from her old lab. She hoped to help the mercenary improve his gear and execute the perfect heist, which would earn them enough money to leave Gotham and live comfortably in Europe.

Unfortunately, their plan didn't go as expected and an accident with the isotope caused Lynns' body to mutate into the unstable meta-criminal Phosphorus. This mutation threatened to destroy the city and eventually led to Lynns' incarceration in a containment cell in the basement of Arkham Asylum.

As a result of her part in the couple's crimes, Jane was arrested and issued a custodial sentence.

Her relationship with Lynns, frayed from his regular violent outbursts, reached boiling point, leading to her decision to break up with him not long after their internment.
