Elizabeth Arkham - Batman: Arkham Asylum

The late mother of Amadeus Arkham, Elizabeth Arkham shared the family’s vision of saving Gotham from tearing itself apart through greed and corruption, raising her son to pursue their goal.

Her health deteriorated rapidly after the passing of her husband, eventually being diagnosed with an aggressive form of dementia that left her unable to look after herself. Spending the remainder of her years in bed, she was cared for by Amadeus.

On the 4th of June 1920, after witnessing how much pain and suffering she was in, Amadeus euthanised Elizabeth, believing that it would bring her peace. Though he never publicly admitted to killing her, simply remarking that she finally succumbs to the disease.

With her death, the family estate and inheritance went to her son, who used the money to commission a psychiatric hospital on the grounds of the family estate. He dedicated the project to her, christening the facility The Elizabeth Arkham Asylum for The Criminally Insane.

The Shark - The Batman Season Five

One-third of the Terrible Trio, The Shark, aka Justin, was a teenage miscreant who used mutagenic chemicals to terrorise the Gotham University Campus, attacking and maiming students who had bullied and teased him because of his size and intelligence.

While primarily the muscle of the group, he would also act as a lookout, ensuring that the Trio could operate without any outside interference.

After several run-ins with Batman and Batgirl, he was eventually defeated and cured by the Dark Knight. Detained by Gotham U Campus security, he was later handed over to the GCPD.

Both he and David were sentenced to the same correctional facility.

Justin - The Batman Season Five

A young student attending Gotham University, Justin was a social pariah, often bullied and mistreated because of his weight and intelligence. Forming a tight-knit group with David and Amber, he came to hate the student body and wished to inflict pain and fear on his tormentors.

Gaining access to the mutagenic chemicals of the former criminal turned University professor Kirk Langstrom, he took on the mantle of Shark, enacting his dark and twisted fantasy. He took pleasure in the chaos he caused and had little sympathy for those hurt in their antics, feeling it was karma.

His crimes were eventually discovered by Batman and Batgirl and, after several confrontations with the pair, was finally taken into police custody.

The Terrible Trio - The Batman Season Five

While not the usual type of villains that Batman and his allies face on a nightly basis, the Terrible Trio as they became known, were no less formidable, exploiting mutagenic chemicals to cause chaos at Gotham University.

Originally a team of embittered and bullied students wanting to retaliate and harm those who made their lives a living hell, David, Amber and Justin took their fantasies of revenge to the extreme, stealing research notes from university Professor Kirk Langstrom, aka Man-Bat and altering the formula to transform them into The Fox, The Vulture and The Shark, animal/human hybrids with enhanced strength, speed and ferocity.

Initially targetting their victims on a small scale, the Trio's plans changed after hearing that the Dean of Gotham University, Steven Philips, was calling for compulsory DNA testing to help stamp out the group and any other potential users of the mutagen. While Shark and Vulture saw this as a threat to their anonymity and personal freedoms, Fox saw it as the perfect opportunity; infect the whole campus and reduce the student body into mindless animals, something that David often remarked, calling Gotham University "a zoo."

The plan was stopped thanks to the intervention of Batman and Batgirl and the Trio were depowered and arrested. They are currently held in Gotham Penitentiary.

The Griffin - The Batman Season Five

Exposed to high quantities of dangerous and experimental mutagen, The Fox, aka Gotham University student David, was transformed into a chimaera form that resembled the Griffin of Ancient Egyptian mythology.

Reduced to pure animal instinct "The Griffin" as he was unofficially dubbed by the student body of Gotham U, tried to kill Batman and Batgirl, only for the Dark Knight to electrocute him into submission.

He was subsequently cured by Batman & GCPD and arrested.

The Fox - The Batman Season Five

The alter-ego of David, The Fox was the de facto leader of The Terrible Trio, using his knowledge to reverse engineer mutagenic patches that allowed them all to take on the forms of super-fast, super-strong human/animal hybrids.

Hunting down his bullies, he took great pleasure in toying with his victims, stalking them before enacting his revenge.

When the Dean of Gotham U vowed to crack down on the Trio's activities by running mandatory DNA testing for all students, he proposed that they infect the whole student body and unleash "the zoo" on the campus.

Creating a mutagen bomb that would explode and release an aerosol variant of the chemical into the atmosphere, infecting all in its vicinity, his plans were scuppered by Batman and Batgirl. Although he destroyed the vial of antidote, he was doused in an entire canister of the mutagenic chemicals, drastically altering his body into a mindless Griffin-like beast.

He was eventually captured and arrested.

David - The Batman Season Five

A sardonic college student with little love for his peers, save for Justin and Amber, David was a social outcast frequently bullied for his slight build and bookish appearance. From a young age, he had admired the vigilante Batman. However, he completely misunderstood what the Dark Knight stood for; he wanted power and control and would use fear to get what he wanted.

When Kirk Langstrom joined the Gotham University faculty, he broke into the professor's office and stole his research. Altering Langstrom's mutagenic formula, which the scientist had used in the past to become the criminal Man-Bat, he would create specialised patches that transformed him into a large and imposing fox.

Taking his revenge on those who abused him, including his roommate Jake, he, Jake and Amber would go on to terrorise Gotham University as The Terrible Trio.

After their reign of terror was ended by Batman and Batgirl, they were arrested and charged for their crimes.

Amber - The Batman Season Five

A bitter and jaded student studying at Gotham University, Amber had a real disdain for sorority houses, who had dismissed her in her early days as a freshman because she did not fit their aesthetic. Feeling outcast and ostracised, she became friends with fellow misfits David and Justin, looking out for one another.

When Kirk Langstrom, the author of the infamous Man-Bat formula was employed at the University as a professor, she broke into his lab, stealing his research notes off his computer.

Now with a variant of the mutagen at their disposal, the three decided to take revenge on their peers, forming The Terrible Trio. Using vulture feathers as the basis for her mutagenic patches, she became The Vulture and terrorised the student body.

When their antics caused the University's Dean, Steven Phillips to call for every student to undergo a drug test to determine who was abusing dangerous chemicals, they planned to infect every one of their classmates, building a chemical bomb that would engulf the entire campus with the formula whilst they were all watching a football game.

However, they were defeated by Batman and Batgirl and arrested.

The Vulture - The Batman Season Five

The alter-ego of Amber, The Vulture was a teenage delinquent who, along with her friends Justin - aka Shark - and David - aka Fox, - formed the Terrible Trio. After stealing research notes off the reformed criminal, turned university professor Kirk Langstrom, she helped develop mutagen patches that allowed her to transform into a vulture/human hybrid, capable of flight, enhaced reflexes and a sharp beak and talons.

Targetting the student body of Gotham University, the Terrible Trio caused mayhem, taking revenge on all the people who bullied and abused her over the years.

Planning to unleash a chemical bomb that would difuse their mutagen across the whole campus, Vulture was incapcitated by Batgirl, who overpowered her, spraying her with an antidote.

Arrested and depowered, she was charged for her crimes and sent to prison.

Kirk Langstrom - The Batman Season Five

After serving his sentence at Arkham Asylum for his crimes as Man-Bat, Kirk Langstrom was hired as a professor at Gotham University. During his tenure, three students infiltrated his lab, hacked his computer, and misappropriated his research on mutagenic chemicals for personal gain.

When Batman and Batgirl visited him, Langstrom maintained his innocence and even assisted the heroes in uncovering the truth about his stolen files, thereby clearing his name.

Utilizing a blood sample from "Gorilla Boy", Langstrom synthesized a fast-acting antidote to the mutagen, capable of reversing its effects within seconds of application.

Jake - The Batman Season Five

A notorious bully at Gotham University, Jake was the roommate of David. Unbeknownst to the athlete and party boy, David was the leader of The Terrible Trio, a group of ostracized students who used mutagen patches to retaliate against their tormentors.

Jake frequently exploited David's meek nature, hosting parties in their dorm room and locking David out. During one incident when David attempted to force his way in, he physically assaulted him, pushing him into a wall. This event marked Jake as the Trio's next target.

Late one night in the gym, Fox ambushed Jake while he was swimming laps in the pool and applied a mutagen patch to his arm. This transformed Jake into a giant, enraged ape, which the GCPD would go on to dub "Gorilla Boy".

Once the effects of the mutagen wore off, Jake was arrested by the police, who held him responsible for his destructive rampage through the university campus.

"Gorilla Boy" - The Batman Season Five

Dubbed "Gorilla Boy" by the Gotham City Police Department, Jake was a notorious bully turned victim of the Terrible Trio.

Ambushed in the abandoned Gotham University Gymnasium by the Trio and was swiftly subdued by Fox, the alter ego of his roommate David, who was often the target of Jake's bullying. Jake was then exposed to a mutagenic patch by Fox, which transformed him into a large, super-strong ape.

After causing havoc on the campus, Jake was apprehended by Batman and Batgirl. They ensured his reversion back to human form before he was taken into police custody and subsequently sent to the hospital for further examination.

Michael - The Batman Season Five

A student at Gotham University, Michael maintained a friendship with classmate Shelley. He was known for his habit of pranking both friends and peers alike.

During a college beach party, Shelley's encounter with "The Shark" during a late-night swim initially led her to believe he was fooling around with a costume pinched from the university's drama department. However,  attempting to unmask her assailant, she quickly realised her mistake and fled.

Shelley - The Batman Season Five

Shelley, a popular student at Gotham University, was known for her active social life, frequently attending parties and gatherings with her friends.

During one such event at a nearby beach, she decided to take a late-night swim alone. As she beckoned others to join her, she was unexpectedly attacked by an individual known as "The Shark".

At first, she mistook him for her friend Michael, attempting to remove what she believed to be a shark costume. She dismissed his scare attempt as clichéd and unimpressive, referring to it as "so Spielberg".

Her initial disbelief and annoyance swiftly turned into terror when she realized that she was not tugging at a costume, but real skin. As she hurried back to the shore, she was confronted by "The Shark's" accomplices, "Fox" and "Vulture".

"Love In Idleness" - A Midsummer Night's Dream

A beautiful pansy growing deep in the woodlands of Ancient Athens, "Love In Idleness" as it became known by the local maidens, was one of a kind. Pierced by one of Cupid's enchanted bolts, the once-white flower turned purple, mutating to produce a powerful elixir embued with the arrow tip's magical properties of amorous love and devotion when coming into contact with a living being.

This love potion could make a person fall in love with the first person they saw upon dripping it in their eyes. However, if the person was already in love, it would have the opposite effect, causing them to feel vitriol, disgust and hatred for their beloved.

Oberon, the king of the fairies, used this flower to acquire the ward of Titania. He made her fall in love with a weaver named Nick Bottom, who had an ass's head transfigured onto him by Puck, Oberon's loyal hobgoblin confidant and paramour.

Puck also used Love-In-Idleness on four Athenian teenagers, Hermia, Lysander, Helena, and Demetrius, who were involved in a complex love triangle. Hermia and Lysander had to flee the city to save their lives as the Duke, Theseus, threatened to execute Hermia if she didn't marry Demetrius instead of Lysander.

Initially, Oberon and Puck found the confusion among the lovers amusing. However, the Fae monarch soon grew tired of it and ordered Puck to release them from the spell with the help of another magical herb in the king's possession.

"Dian's Bud" - A Midsummer Night's Dream

Said to originate from the Goddess Diana, "Dian's Bud," was a magical herb and flower with the remarkable ability to counteract the potent enchantment of "Love-In-Idleness," leaving those affected with vague recollections of their enchanted state.

Both Puck and Oberon used this herb - which the Fairy King kept in his possession - to undo accidental and deliberate enchantments cast on Lysander and Titania.
