The Boy - A Midsummer Night's Dream

The infant son of the King of India and one of Titania's most devoted followers, the unnamed boy was taken into the care of the Fairy Queen, after his mother died during childbirth. Honour bound to the memory of her friend and companion, Titania raised him in Fairyland as her own, affectionately doting on him. Meanwhile, his father was left with a young Changeling.

However, this attention only angered the jealous King Oberon, who took a shine to the boy and wished to make him a member of his personal train. After being denied custody of the boy, the final straw in their already failing marriage, the Queen and King parted ways, setting up two rival factions. Titania's grip on the boy only tightened, knowing full well that Oberon would doggedly persist until he eventually got what he wanted.

Resorting to put her under the influence of Love-in-Idleness, Titania finally relented to his demands, ordering her attendees to have the boy moved to Oberon's Bower. Satisfied with the result, the King released his wife from the enchantment, reconciling their extensive list of grievances towards one another and pushing to start their relationship anew.
