Wedna-El - Krypton: Season Two

A forebear of the House of El, Wedna-El was a preeminent biologist who wished to use science to end the Kandor-Argo City Civil War that threatened to destroy Krypton. To do this, she and fellow scientist  Van-Zod sought the creation of the perfect supersoldier, focusing their efforts on finding theVara Gene, a rare genetic marker capable of, with extreme pressure, allowing for the development of impressive abilities.

Screening hundreds of potential candidates, she eventually settled for Dax-Baron, a young Sagitari dedicated to their cause. Promising the freedom fighter that they could unlock his full potential and make him a hero for a safer Krypton - for his wife and daughter - they began their experiments.

Although she reassured Dax's wife, Enaj that her husband would be alright, Wedna subjected him to cruel and countless trials that saw him repeatedly die, be resurrected and die once again. Each time she would increase the severity to push him to his limits, and more often than not, past them.

Angered by Zod's reticence towards the experiment, she snapped at his protests, reminding him that their work was vital for winning the war since the Kandorians were slaughtering their forces in larger numbers than they could even quantify. Disregarding their principles, Wedna convinced the reluctant Van to see the project through to its inevitable conclusion, no matter the cost.

With the war won, Wedna and Van were confronted by Enaj, demanding that they return her husband to her. Unable to do so without causing emotional distress to both parties, she did her best to tell Enaj that Dax was no longer the man she had married. Furthermore, she refused to cooperate with the enraged Sagitari's demands, adding that Baron was the key to ending any war on Krypton, especially now that Krypton's peace was on a constant knife's edge.

Held at gunpoint and seeing no other choice, she reluctantly presented their work. Revolted by Wedna and Van's cruel and barbaric treatment of her husband, she could not believe what they had turned him into; a hulking, violent monstrosity with barely anything left of the man she once loved.

Forced to watch Baron lose his last semblance of compassion and self-control, going on a mass killing spree, she reluctantly captured and sealed Krypton's sentient Doomsday weapon away in a containment chamber hidden in the Outlands.
