A faithful servant of Queen Titania, they were sent on ahead from Fairyland to prepare the woods and meadows of Athens for their mistress's arrival, unaware that King Oberon and his supporters had similar ideas.
Meeting with Oberon's devoted loyalist "Puck" - Robin Goodfellow - while performing their duties, they initially dismissed him as a tiresome distraction. Yet, after recognising him for his reputation as a knavish trickster, the two began talking in earnest.
Reunited with Titania, they departed with the sovereign and her fairy train, leaving Oberon and his fairies to their plotting.
