Dax-Baron - Krypton: Season Two

A Sagitari born on the planet Krypton 1000 cycles ago, Dax-Baron volunteered to participate in a scientific experiment that would turn him into the perfect super-soldier, hoping to help end the Kandor-Argo City civil war and make Krypton a safer place for his family to grow up in.

Testing positive for the irregular Vara Gene, scientists Wedna-El and Van-Zod thought they could exploit this mutation and make him invulnerable to lethal harm. To experiment with this hypothesis they continuously tortured Baron, killing him over and over and over again, each time resurrecting him to face more pain and death. After each death, whether from immolation or exposure to lethal pathogens, his body adapted, physically changing to survive the treatment, till at last, after four hundred and fifty-five attempts, he was unrecognisable as the man he once was.

With the war over, Enaj returned to the lab, demanding that she be allowed to see Baron. Ignoring their protests, she tried to make contact with her husband, only to be horrified at what El and Zod had done to him in the name of science and warfare. Trying to reach out to his wife and prove that he was still the man she knew and loved, Baron was heartbroken by her tearful rejection.

Turning on his captors, he broke free from his cell and went on a rampage, slaying all in his path.

Watching in shock and regret at the ruin they had caused and the lives they had destroyed, El and Zod agreed to take drastic action; since he was not seemingly incapable of dying thanks to the Vara Gene and his own mutation, they would have to capture and contain him somewhere that he could never get away from.

Eventually succeeding in this goal, he was stored deep below the surface of Krypton, in a facility that only an El and a Zod working together could access. Left alone for centuries, his name was lost to time, only being referenced in legend as Doomsday, the Beast of the Outlands.
